Belconnen Model Aero Club (BMAC) is located in the heart of the northern suburbs of Canberra, between the major town centres of North Canberra, Belconnen and Gungahlin. This unique location makes our model airfield readily accessible to all members of the Canberra community seeking a safe, friendly and appropriate location to enjoy the sport of aero modelling.
As a Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) approved model airfield, the facilities have been designed with safety in mind supported by a comprehensive Model Aeronautical Association of Australia (MAAA) flight training program.
Our members participate in most forms of aero-modelling including radio control model sport, scale, pattern (aerobatics), gliders, control line, old-timer and helicopters.
Note - due to our location within the Crace Grasslands Nature Reserve the following types of model aircraft are not permitted at our field - gas turbine jets, drones, rockets ,free flight models and aircraft that exceed the noise limit of 94 dB.
Club membership is open to those who share an interest in recreational aero-modelling and who are approved by the club Committee. Visitors from MAAA affiliated clubs may be permitted to fly at BMAC up to four times per membership year. MAAA visitors must present a current MAAA membership card and sign the visitors book at each visit.
If you are interested in aero-modelling you are welcome to visit the field or contact us.
